Martial artists pack a punch in 2014
After another successful year, in which MMA, kick-boxing and Krav Maga were introduced, Wolves Academy held their year-end function.
Wolves Academy Supreme Student of the Year was awarded to Chané Schwirzer. Mea Vermeulen and Christopher Wilken snatched the trophy for the female and male student of the year for Tang Soo Do Korean Karate.
The academy was founded by Master Awie Davis in 1990 and celebrates its 24st anniversary this year.
From humble beginnings with few members, they developed into a very successful academy where professional training was conducted on a full-time basis by Davis (fifth dan) and his son Xander (fourth dan).
For the past 21 years, the academy successfully presented more than 30 black-belt dan graduates and coached a total of 25 national team members who represented South Africa abroad. It also produced numerous world champions in various categories.
