LHS boasts with several medals at athletics meeting
Lowveld High School started off the athletics season on Saturday, January 24 with a meeting at Hoërskool Nelspruit which seven schools attended, including; Affies, Ligbron, hoërskole Ben Viljoen, Barberton and Ben Vorster.
Although they were met with some stiff competition, LHS’ athletes made their school proud.
Gold medals were awarded to Norbert Ponisammy (100m, 200m and long jump); Muzi Maphope (400m sprints); Robin Mahile (200m sprints); Blessing Masangu (long jump); Joy Ndlovu (long jump); Luke Makaula (tripple jump) and W Mashaba (long jump).
Silver medals were awarded to Robin Mahile (100 sprints); Gugu Nkambule (long jump) and Comfort Masuku (high jump).
Bronze medals were awarded to Muzi Maphope (400m hurdles); Mandalisa Sigundla (shot put) and the under 19 relay team. Merit awards were also given to Sinkile Qhama and Frank Muwayi, both for long jump.
The athletes feel that they did well but look forward to improving their performances through intense focus and determination under the tutelage of Mr Johan Kruger.
