Golf club celebrates a great year on the greens

Sabie River Bungalows Golf Club looked back on memorable moments on the golf course and honoured its members for great performance throughout 2014 on January 17.

Dudley Neilson and Prudence Whittington welcomed the guests to the annual prize-giving ceremony with a delicious cocktail and ladies received a rose from Summerfield.

Club captain Neil Waitt and Dudley Neilson presented all the trophies and thanked their various supporters. Mark Pain and the team from Pain’s Landscaping were thanked for keeping the greens in tip-top shape throughout the year, Cindy Thomas for all the delicious eats, Prudence Whittington from the Pro Shop, as well as Donna Brough.

The guests enjoyed a finger buffet prepared by Sabi River Sun Resort chef Cindy Thomas, while Danny Marais provided dinner entertainment with his beautiful music.

Most improved player: Dylan Brough

Most challenged golfer: Rob Snow

Spirited golfer: Ryan Mckain

Price Shield: Eugene Minnaar and Andre Bam

Chairman’s Cup: Brian Merchant and Gavin Brough

Fryston Trophy: Eugene Minnaar

Mango Cup and B division winner: Moriti Ngale

C division winner: Roy Ternent

Mug winners: Jacque Minnaar, Dudley Neilson, Jason Field, Reece Mackain, Gavin Brough, Eugene Minnaar, Jan Prinsloo, Jeffrey Mathebula, Phil Pappin and Ryan Mackain.

The Sabie River golf course is one of only four 18-hole golf courses in Mpumalanga and club members take great pride in it.
