Groenwald claims the coveted prize for ideal horse of the year

The first equestrian event on the Lowveld calendar was held last weekend at Nottinghill Equestrian Centre in White River, where riders competed for this coveted title.

This is judged according to both showjumping and showing classes – the winner of the title must be well schooled and versatile. Riders from all over Mpumalanga and Limpopo attended the show.

The runner-up was Tash Whyte on Brandenburg Special Assignment with a score of 50. The highlight of this combination’s show was the working riding-horse class judged by Gauteng showing judge Sydney Kidson, where she scored 91 per cent.

The highest score attained by a junior rider was 44, gained by Hanelize Kamffer on Africa’s Whizzbar followed by Brandenburg Last Dance ridden by Christine Kruger (32).

In the children’s category, the highest score was attained by Lize-marie van der Merwe on Vlek Vlek (47) followed by Bak Bak Bismark on Rebecca Lockhart (45).
