Pink attire and lots of sunscreen help to fight cancer
Players from Hazyview had the chance to play a round of golf among wildlife and the pristine surroundings of Kruger Park Lodge on Saturday during the launch of the Sanlam Cancer Challenge.
Clubs from around the country participated in this annual initiative to help raise funds for CANSA and awareness of cancer.
This is the first time the event has been held on the Kruger Park Lodge golf course and 48 players participated in the 18-hole better-ball Stableford format competition.
A group of women of CANSA Nelspruit made sure everyone was kept hydrated at the first and ninth hole and had plenty of sunscreen on hand to protect skins from the harsh sun.
Over lunchtime, players took a break from the heat and competition and enjoyed prego rolls in the shade of the lodge’s restaurant.
In the spirit of raising awareness for cancer and showing solidarity with survivors, players made donations to the organisation and had their hair sprayed and shaved after the competition.
The event was concluded with a dinner and prize-giving ceremony, where the best golfers were awarded prizes sponsored by Sanlam.
To help raise more funds for CANSA, Ernie Els red wines were auctioned off during the dinner.
The Kruger Park Lodge Golf Club Sanlam Cancer Tournament is scheduled for June 20, where players can, once again, enjoy their favourite sport and help CANSA in their fight against cancer.
