Wildgeese swimmers rake in the medals

The Mpumalanga Valencia Age Group Gala was hosted by Nkangala Swimming and saw 14 clubs from across the province competing for honours.

Wildgeese achieved a sixth place overall and the following swimmers received medals:

• Stefan Krieg: 2 gold, 2 silver, record in 50m backstroke

• Julia Bedningham: 3 gold with a record in 50m butterfly

• Franco Labuschagne: 2 gold

• Simone de Beer: 2 gold, 2 silver

• Carike Broodryk: 2 silver, 2 bronze

• Carla Broodryk: 1 bronze

• Tristan David: 1 gold, 2 bronze

• Gert Engelbrecht: 2 silver

• Jaco Engelbrecht: 1 silver

• Pierre de Beer: 4 bronze

According to coach Martie Vitus, club members did very well as most of them only competed in three or four items.

The club’s swimmers are currently training hard for the SA Championships scheduled to take place at the end of the month.
