Cyclists pedal for our rhino
Seven cyclists recently took part in an epic Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre MTB challenge of 200,4 kilometres in order to raise awareness of the plight of rhino.
Dennis Lawvie, John Ferguson, Keith Ferguson, Rassie Erasmus, Mark Carroll, Hennie Kriek and Tony Kearslake braved 4 000 metres of gruelling hill climbing.
“Unfortunately due to the terrible weather, 34 kilometres was barred from the route. A special thanks to all the cyclists as well as to Grant Fowlds, who were able to pull this race off in a short period of time and for raising awareness for the rhinos,” said Laura Smith social media, marketing and public relations officer of Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC).
Starting at Mount Sheba the route to HESC on the Kapama Big 5 Game Reserve, took the cyclists through Pilgrim’s Rest, Sabie and many a kilometre of forests.
