Squad ready to bat for glory
The u/17 Springbok indoor-cricket squad attended a training camp over the weekend in preparation for the Junior World Series in Australia later this year.

Ruben de Lange of Hoërskool Nelspruit will captain the side that will take on the world in September. The team also held a clinic for the younger players of the area. Local coach, Eric Grimaldi says that it has been a long time since there was a Springbok squad in the Lowveld. “It was a good experience to play against some of the local teams. The clinic was exceptionally well recieved and the boys enjoyed it very much.”

The tournament will take place from September 25 until October 3 at the Toombul Indoor Sports Centre, in Brisbane, Australia. The event will bring together the best young talent in the world. The matches will be highly competitive with teams striving to win, however, with the spirit of the game being paramount in the minds of all. The event will showcase great skill and players’ reputations will be forged, but the players all need to be ambassadors that leave each tournament saying that indoor cricket is better for the actions of us all.
Grimaldi and the team will fly down on September 20 for their next training camp at the end of August.
