Locals make a splash at interprovincial gala
Despite the fact that there has not been a functional swimming pool in Barberton for a very long time, six local swimmers were recently selected for the provincial team.
On Saturday they took part in the small district interprovincial championship gala in Boksburg.
They were Dylan Boshoff, Grant de Jager, Jimmy Munro, Jordan Nader, Sonya van Rooyen and Skye Munro.
Results
• Jimmy Munro – gold 100-metre freestyle, silver 100-metre butterfly stroke, bronze 200-metre individual medley and silver for the relay
• Jordan Nader – bronze 100-metre breaststroke
• Skye Munro – bronze 100-metre freestyle, bronze 100-metre backstroke and silver in the relay
• Grant de Jager – gold 50-metre freestyle, silver 50-metre breaststroke and bronze in the relay
• Sonya van Rooyen – bronze in the relay
• Dylan Boshoff – bronze in medley relay.
