Arm Wrestling South African Nationals coming to the Lowveld
The Lowveld Arm Victors is hosting the national arm wrestling championships this year.
For the first time ever the local arm-wrestling club will host the annual South African National Championships.
Lowveld Arm Victors will host the Arm Wrestling South African Nationals at The Winkler Protea Hotel in White River on November 6 and 7.
Local club captain, Hanco Nel is the overall first-ranked arm wrestler in the country.
He has not lost a match in the past two years. He has been South African champion in his weight class six times, and is aiming to start participating internationally next year.
Lowveld Arm Victors boast with quite a few current national champions in various categories. There is also a lot of promise in newer, talented members joining the fast-growing sport.
The first day of the competition will see the left arms battle it out for supremacy, and the right arms will compete the following day.
There are different weight classes in which men and women can compete.
The event will end with the notorious “Best of the Best” on Saturday.
Participation is on invitation only and candidates will be announced directly after the right-arm competition finishes at 15:00.
Big cash prizes are up for grabs. The total prize money available so far is R12 000, but increases as the competition draws nearer.
It is also fun to watch, and everyone is welcome to join in supporting the local arm wrestlers as they take on visitors from across the country.
Entry for competitors cost R100 per arm. Entrance to the competition hall is free for spectators.
A caretaker will be available for kids 12 years and younger throughout the competition with jumping castles, a jungle gym and a swimming pool.

Friday November 6
• Doors open at 12:00 and weigh-in starts. Weigh-in closes at 14:00 and the left-arm competition commences.
• The finals and prize-giving is at 17:30, followed by a braai at the boma. Supporters are welcome to join in.
Saturday November 7
• 10:00 – Weigh-in starts
• 11:00 – Weigh-in closes and right-arm competition commences
• 15:00 – Right-arm
competition ends
• 18:00 – Dinner
• 19:30 – Right-arm finals
and prize-giving
• 20:30 – Best of the
Best competition.
