Schools ready to rumble on the track and field

Excitement is running high at Lowveld primary schools this week. The annual Hi-Tech Interprimary Athletics Meeting will be hosted at Hoërskool Nelspruit by Laerskool Nelspruit on Friday.

Nellies is celebrating its 100th birthday this year.

Athletes have been pushing themselves to the limit in training and have competed in the regular interhouse, friendly and MUSSA meetings. Spirit teams and cheerleaders have put in hundreds of hours of practice.

The biggest day on the primary-school sports calendar is almost here.

Spectators are asked to be seated early in anticipation of the teams entry.

The entrance for vehicles will be in Freidenheim Street as well as a behind the blockhouse in Kykoedie Street.

According to Jaco Breyl, head of sport at Laerskool Nelspruit, parents and spectators are requested to follow the same directions on the N4 as buses as there will be traffic congestion at the sports grounds’ main entrance.

Parents who just want to drop off their children can make use of Kykoedie Street.

“Each schools’ supporters can buy their entry wrist bands at the respective schools. Each school has received a quota of wrist bands for their supporters. No entry wrist bands will be sold at the gates on the day of Interprimary. Laerskool Nelspruit’s offices will be open for ticket sales until 10:00 on Friday,” said Breyl.

Persons who arrive at the venue without an entry wrist band will not be allowed to enter.

Adults: R20 (white wrist band)
Children not in school uniform: R20 (white wrist band)
Children in uniform: free (yellow wrist bands)
