Hard work and determination finally pay off with 58 medals
The Arnold Sports Festival is an annual multisport event celebrating numerous sporting codes. It is named after the legendary professional bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Recently Combat Tang Soo Do South Africa had the pleasure of being invited to attend the Arnold Classic Tournament at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Tranquility took 26 students to compete. The tournament boasted more than 822 competitors in the tatami mat divisions which included combat tang soo do, ryu kyu martial arts, tae kwon do, traditional tang soo do, ATA South Africa, kick-boxing, karate, ju-jitsu and haedong kumdo.

Tranquility, under instruction of Christo van Wyk, walked away with 58 medals.
“I am extremely proud of each and every one of my students. They worked hard and were committed and proved that we were a force to be reckoned with.
“It was a great honour to be part of this event and it was one for the books. Thank you to all our students and parents for your commitment,” he said.

Results
• Junior male – Dhandre van Wyk won two gold, two silver and a bronze
• Senior male – Brandon Krause took home three gold and one silver
• Senior female – Mikayla Funck performed like a true martial artist
• Junior female – Abigail De Beer won one gold, two silver and bronze.
