Pro to coach Penryn cricketer’s
Former provincial cricketer, Ryan Tate will join Penryn from next term as a private coach.
Tate has 16 years of active coaching experience, having worked with players in all age groups from foundation phase through to young provincial, club and disabled cricketers.
In 2007 while playing as an overseas pro in Hampshire, he was appointed as coach of the Hampshire Hawks disabled team which taught him a great deal about working on strengths and weaknesses that players might have, as well as the psychological aspects involved in creating confident, positive players who enjoy the game.
He has represented various provincial teams at A-list and first-class level (one-day and three-day versions) as a top-order batsman and seam bowler.
He will start off with specialised performance-based one-on-one coaching sessions, from foundation-phase pupils to the more advanced senior players.
In these sessions he will work on improving basic techniques, working on and identifying the player’s strengths and weaknesses through structured cricket drills. Tate will also concentrate on motivating the cricketers and ensure they leave the programme more confident in their ability and also develop an enjoyment for the game from a young age, and therefore ensuring Penryn has a bright future on the cricket field.
