16-year-old golfer bags yet another accolade
Lowveld Golf Union, for the second consecutive year, presented Brandon-Lee Geere with the Junior Player of the Year trophy.

The 16-year-old has already been accepted at Ranger Junior College in Texas to pursue his golfing career.
Last year he was selected for the u/19 inter-provincial team to compete in the Western Cape. The team placed first in the B league. He is now seeded 24th for u/17’s, moving up 22 places since last year.
Geere won his first-ever tournament at the age of 13. During Hoërskool Nelspruit’s annual prize-giving in 2015, he was named golf player of the year for earning his Mpumalanga colours.

Hoërskool Nelspruit’s golf team, consisting of Ruben Fermor, Geere, Jacques du Preez and Ruan Groenewald, during the Tuks-league, placed second.
The Tshwane Junior Open that was held at Pretoria Country Club in July, is one of his biggest achievements.
“Some of the country’s top golfers compete over two days. Placing under the top 10, was a great feeling,” said Geere.
Of the nine tournaments, Geere won four, got three second places and one third place. He had his first play-off match at the Lydenburg Open in March. “I accidentally hit the ball during a practise shot which counted as a shot. I was three under par. At the last hole I made par and Lourens (Volschenk) made a birdie. I was not very impressed with myself but the following tournament’s win made it better.”

His second ever play-off was during NCG’s club champs, beating well-known golfer of the Lowveld, Anton Steenkamp.
