Bodybuilder set sights on trophy

Local bodybuilder, Tessa Els has bagged her second gold medal of the year. At the recent Nabba/WFF provincials at the Sasol Recreational Club in Secunda, she placed first in her category (over 1,63 metres).

This means she has been selected for the South African championships that will take place in October in Pretoria.

It is her fifth consecutive year that she has received her provincial colours in this sport.

At last year’s SAs she got a sixth place, but this year she has set her sights on first prize.

“It is my goal. I believe that I am stronger and more dedicated to bring the trophy home,” said Els.
She said without her coach, Victor Alley, she would have not gotten this far. “I have the best coach in the world. Vic, you are the reason for my success and I cannot wait to see what we are going to take to the SAs.”

As always, Els looked spectacular in her pink outfit, especially made for her by Chris Naudé of Phatboyz.

“Thanks to Tanja de Man-Heunes, Anzelle Stone, Tanya de Paiva Kinnear, Buks Esterhuizen and to Wanita Barroso and Liezel Snyman for helping me with the finer details for my show.”

She also thanked the people who has helped her raise funds to compete at the provincials.

“Alet Lemmer and Jaco Venter put on a great show every year. We as athletes are honoured to have such amazing presidents. Last but not least, thanks to my hubby who is always there to support me. It means the world to me. All glory to God.”

Earlier this year, she took the winning trophy at the Pretoria Classics. She needs to loose two kilograms to compete in the super-body category at SAs.
