NHS hockey stars tour the Netherlands
Ten boys from Hoërskool Nelspruit's (NHS) u/16A hockey team departed on the sport tour of a lifetime to the Netherlands last week.

Girls and boys were selected for various teams from u/14 to u/19, at the Elsie Coetzer Hockey Week in Bloemfontein earlier this year. During the 10-day tour they will participate in six training sessions and matches at hockey clubs in Amsterdam and Utrecht.
Rudolf Henning, Heini Pieters and Thomas Wasserman were selected for the u/16 touring team but there also were seven boys chosen to represent the u/19 team. They are Laurie Aitchison, Victor Aitchison, Jivan Botha, Rickhard Wessels, Shane Lourens, Jurgens van Reenen and Jean-Louis Dentan.
Jaco Smit, who coaches the u/16A team at NHS, said he is incredibly proud of his team which won the 2016 Tuks series, joint winners with Hoërskool Middelburg in the Mpumalanga league and came second at the Noordvaal week.

“During the year the boys showed that they can play incredible hockey. It is no surprise that so many of the team members were chosen for the tour,” he added.
Seven u/14 NHS boys were selected for the tour.
Marné van Aarde will represent the u/16 girls’ touring team with Cherise van Duyker and Jessica Leicester is a member of the u/15 girls’ team.
Piet Uys, who is also a NHS coach, was selected to accompany the u/19 boys’ team to the Netherlands.
