Hornbills create the biggest splash yet
Riverview Prep School's Hornbills outswam the Rollers at the school's annual interhouse swimming gala afternoon and won the coveted trophy last Thursday.
Pupils of Riverview Prep School had fun splashing their way through the various strokes during the annual interhouse swimming gala last Thursday, but cooler conditions left several shivering in-between items.
The teams all sported swimming caps in their house colours. Some even donned face paint to show their team spirit.

Several records were broken during the course of the afternoon, with the boys proving a superior force in the pool. Robert Butcher improved the record in the u/11 individual medley and backstroke. Last year’s record for the u/11 breaststroke of 46,37 seconds was broken by Danny Snyman with 39,22 and Butcher with 45,65. Nick de Zwart broke the record in the u/9 breaststroke.

The day’s best-swimmer trophies
Junior victrix ludorum: Libby Ralfe
Senior victrix ludorum: Sonieka Snyman
Junior victor ludorum: Tlhomogi Molapo
Senior victor ludorum: Robert Butcher.

After this spirited start to the swimming season, the top-performing pupils in each item will compete in several leagues and friendly galas over the next few weeks.
