
Local Mixed Martial Arts fighter, Lourens Botes, concluded his career on an anti-climax, loosing his last fight in the Extreme Fighting Competition 55 (EFC) on Friday at Grand West, Cape Town.

He was up against debutant Gary Joshua in the bantam-weight class in his 10th professional career fight.
“The referee stopped the fight very late in the first round due to a cut under my left eye. Thank you for all your support. I would have loved to finish my career on a different note, but that is life. All the best to my opponent, Gary, with his career at EFC. It was an honour to finish my career against a fighter with a bright future ahead of him,” Botes said.
Botes retires at the age of 37 with three wins and six career losses.
