Three athletes through to SAs
Three of Laerskool Malelane's athletes won gold medals at the recent Mpumalanga Championships and are now preparing for the SA's.
Seven athletes represented Laerskool Malelane at the Mpumalanga Championships in Secunda and three brought back medals on Saturday.
Zonke Nkosi competed in the girls’ u/13 high jump, Hopewell Khoza improved his personal best in long jump to 5,12m, Phila Sibiya took the eighth place in the finals of the 200m-hurdles and Andile Mayisa came third in his heat of the 70m-hurdles.

Three pupils will compete in the SA Championships in Potchefstroom from March 23 to 25: Siyavuya Mnisi with a third place in 70m-hurdles, Khaya Sengwayo, second in 80m-hurdles and a new record of 11,66 seconds, and Hope Madonsela for a first place and new record of 13 seconds in the 100m-sprint and a second place in the 150m-sprint.
The school wishes Khaya, Hope and Siyavuya good luck and believe they will bring back even more medals. Thanks also go to teachers Belinda Potgieter and Steffie Marais, who accompanied the athletes to Secunda and supported them with care and enthusiasm.
