Triathletes in action in Zim

Local triathletes, Asher Biggs and Dylan Nortjé, have been included in the national team that will compete at the 2017 Troutbeck ATU African Cup.

The event takes place in Zimbabwe on Monday. The selection is based on the recent results from SA Triathlon Championships at the Aldam Holiday Resort, Free State.

Curro Nelspruit’s Asher, ran the fastest running split to win gold in the 18 to 19 male category at the championships. White River’s athletics star, Dylan, won gold in the u/23-male category, which also scored him an overall third-place finish in the elite race with his time of 02:05:12.

“Well done on an awesome SA champs, Dylan. Your dedication, hard work and perseverance is amazing. Best of luck at the Africa Cup race this weekend in Troutbeck, Zimbabwe. We love you and are so proud,” said Dylan’s mom, Bronwyn.

Not only is Asher’s triathlon season going well, but he was also recently chosen to attend the Athletics South Africa Nationals in Cape Town next weekend, when he recently ran the qualifying time for the 800 metres at the Mussas in Secunda.
