Fathers Ground offers a great day of golf

The fourth annual Fathers Ground and White River Primary School's golf day attracted just fewer than 100 participants of all golfing levels, which boded well for the school's fund-raising coffers.

Fathers Ground is a group of dads whose children attend the school. The golf day is just one of the major projects held throughout the year to raise money for the upkeep and upgrade of facilities which fall outside of the yearly budget.

Each tee on the White River Country Club course was sponsored by a different company, but walk-in players were also welcomed. The format played was fourball better ball with scramble drive.

Besides the day of golf, there were incredible prizes up for auction including a week’s holiday at Club Dois in Mozambique and an Nguni hide.

It was the women’s fourball which really stood out. They could be spotted around the course in their luminous pink shirts.

Gary Leppan, who sits on the Fathers Ground committee and whose daughter attends the school, said he was satisfied with the turnout and grateful to all who had made the day a success.

Every bit of money raised goes right back to improving the school experience for all the children,” he said.
