Players take to the ramps to show off kit

Mbombela Stadium looked no less than a fashion show as the Steval Pumas revealed their kit for the 2017 rugby season.

Some of the players donned the team’s training kit, off-field kit, away and home jerseys.

The Mpumalanga Rugby Union wanted to give key stakeholders the opportunity to see what it is to be part of the family and what the players are experiencing.

Steval, which has been part of the team since the Pumas relocated from Witbank to Mbombela, urged the community to get behind the boys.

“I want to congratulate the organising team on a magical evening. Steval is not in it for the money. We have a passion for the Pumas. It has been a stressful year. We took our team down to Cape Town to meet with the South African Rugby Union executives.”

“They made it very clear that they are under huge pressure with sponsors. We had to convince them that the Pumas need to stay in the Currie Cup. We as a board promised them that we wont let the Pumas down,” said CEO of Steval, Kenny Sonnekus.

There is one song that stands out above the rest when the Pumas play. It is a song of inspiration, passion and love of the game of rugby. In short it defines the Pumas’ beautiful team spirit.

“Sponono” is their team song and has been gaining a lot of attention since it originated during a practice session in 2014.
