Loock, Marais boast top trophy
Diana Loock and Stefan Marais were named overall athletes of the day at the IFBB/BBSA Mpumalanga Intermediate Show held at Sasol Club, Secunda on Saturday.
Loock placed first in the Fitness Bikini over 1,68 centimetres, and she got another gold medal in the Ladies’ Bikini category.
“I am very pleased with my performance, as this was only my second competition of the year. It is a dream come true as I had only started competing in October last year. I am very excited for the provincial championships and hope to make the final team for SAs,” said Loock.
Nineteen-year-old Marais competed in his first-ever competition, and walked away with two first places in the junior men under 23 years and under 75 kilograms as well as in the senior men under 80 kilograms category respectively.
“I can’t believe what only three months of proper training and dieting does to your body. Just goes to show you can really accomplish anything, depending on how hard you’re willing to work for it, of course. Thanks to everyone showing love and support,” said Marais.
The next step for Loock’s fitness journey is to compete at the provincials in two weeks’ time in eMalahleni. The Puma team that will represent their province at the South African Championships will be selected. It will be the first time that Mpumalanga will host this prestigious event.
