Province’s best team crowned

Middelburg Netball Club are the new champions of the Mpumalanga Netball Club Champs (MNCC) that took place at Hoërskool Rob Ferreira on Saturday. 

Mpumalanga Ehlanzeni Netball Association hosted the MNCC.

A total of 36 teams qualified to take part in the club champs of which 13 teams were from Ehlanzeni. The teams were divided into four leagues: female A, female B, female C and males.

Ehlanzeni were represented in all four leagues – three teams in the female A league, four teams in the female B league, four teams in the female C league and two teams in the males’ league.

Twelve rounds were played over seven courts before the semi- and finals. Ehlanzeni were third in the female A league, second and third in the female B league, second and third in the female C league and first in the males’ league.

The Ehlanzeni district trials for the Sunbirds will take place on October 14 and 15 at Robbies, whereby 20 players are identified to take part in the Mpumalanga Sunbird trials from November 3 to 5 and on November 19 in Middelburg.

Two Ehlanzeni players, Thembisile Mgwenya (vice-captain) and Sindile Nkuna (player), were selected for the Sunbirds team that participated in the Brutal Fruit Netball Premier League in May and June.
