Simon to captain Iqhawe team
Captain and eighth man of Curro Nelspruit, Simon Joubert will captain the Pumas u/15 team at the Carfind.co.za Iqhawe Week at the Bill Jardine Stadium in Johannesburg.
The tournament, established in 2013, will be held from October 1 to 5.
Teammates Khayelihle Vilane, David Cloete, Ricardo de Sousa, Michael Bartleman and Marnevic Muller will also travel with the Mpumalanga side to the City of Gold.
It is a joint venture between SA Rugby and the SA Rugby Legends Association, and offers players from rural, lower-league and non-traditional rugby schools an opportunity to participate in a high-level provincial competition.
The objective is to create a pathway for them to advance through SA’s rugby structures.
South Western Districts is the defending champs, as they beat Western Province in a tightly contested match 13-8.
