Para World Champs rescheduled

S14 class swimmer, Cristelle Kriel will only leave for the World Para Swimming Championships at the Francisco Marquez Olympic Swimming Pool, Mexico in mid-November.

The Championships was scheduled from September 30 to October 6, but was postponed due to an earthquake in Mexico City.

It will now take place between November 27 and December 7.

The 20-year-old will be in action in the 100-metre backstroke, 100-metre fly and 200-metre individual medley (IM).

“My training is going very well. I cannot wait to get on the plane to represent my country. It will be my first visit to Mexico, and I hope to return with a medal,” said Kriel.

Kriel’s personal best times
• 100m back – 1:16
• 100m fly – 1:17
• 200m (IM) – 2:46.
