A memorable cricket season for Joshua

Joshua Greeff, a grade 8 pupil at Penryn College, has achieved the remarkable feat of scoring six consecutive half-centuries and two centuries in the local T20 u/14 high school league.

In six games, he has only been dismissed twice and scored a total of 511 runs at a strike rate in excess of 168 per cent.

Joshua also plays for Penryn’s open T20 as well as u/15 teams. His best performance of the season was against Hoërskool HTS Witbank, in a 50-over u/15 super league match in which he scored 79 runs and ended up with bowling figures of eight wickets for 20 runs in nine overs.

He attributes this year’s success to countless hours of training and hard work, as well as a bit of luck every now and again.

“I would like to thank my team mates for all their support, my cricket coaches at Penryn, Xolani Grootboom and Shaun Cross, as well as my private coaches, Johan Rudolph and Sifiso Mahima of the Johan Rudolph Cricket Academy, for the endless hours they spent coaching me during the season,” said Joshua.
