The games were played at Van Riebeeck Park, Hoërskool Nelspruit, Curro Nelspruit and Matumi Golf Estate.

It was not an easy tournament. It started on Friday and ended on Sunday.

Hoërskool Nelspruit’s Japie Lubbe reached the finals in the men’s singles, where he got second place.

He played against Rayne Roselt from North West in the semi-finals, but lost 6-1, 6-3 to number-one seed Chrisjan van Wyk in the next round.

Last year he reached the semi-finals of the boys u/16 draw, where he had the chance to win the first set against number-one seeded Devin Badenhorst.

Hoërskool Nelspruit’s Lize van Biljon, Ehlanzeni Tennis first-seeded player, came second in the girls’ singles. She played against the number-three seed, Isabella Basson, then beat number-one seed Anina Gertenbach in the semi-finals, before losing to number-two seed, Isabella Venter.

Arili Boshoff, Laerskool Nelspruit’s top player, took fifth place. This was a downgrade for this number-one seeded player, compared to last year when she took second.

She lost to Mari-Louise van Zyl and then beat Claire Jaramba. Last year, Arili and Lize Oosthuizen claimed the u/12 girls’ doubles title at the Tennis South Africa (TSA) Mpumalanga Grand Prix. John-Robert de Clerck lost to Christian Smith in the finals. Joslin Boshoff beat Genevieve du Toit 6-5.

Deniel Terblanche beat Rohan Roach 6-0, 6-1 for the win. Jovan Lubbe beat number-eight seed Christiaan Grove, lost to number-two seed Jordan Georgiev, beat number-four seed Leo Matthysen and then lost to Dylan du Toit to finish sixth.
