NHS, Rob dominate sevens

It was a day of piping hot action as Lowveld High School yet again hosted 12 schools in a successful sevens tournament last Saturday.

Even though the Highveld was part of the action, it was the Lowveld’s Rob Ferreira and Hoërskool Nelspruit that showed why they are forces to be reckoned with. The latter’s Blits Rhinos, NHS’ first sevens team, dominated their pool by only conceding 10 points in all five of their matches.

They, on the other hand, managed to score a whopping 168 points in total – more than 30 points per match on average. They came up against Standerton in the u/17 final and convincingly took the spoils and the cup.

The hosts were awarded with the plate when they beat Barberton 17-12. They also managed to bag the bowl after beating Penryn 14-5 in the finals.

Assuring that the Highveld did not win a single game in the finals, neither u/17 nor u/15, Uplands’ u/17s beat Highveld 12-5.

Rob Ferreira prevented Hoërskool Nelspruit from taking home both cups by narrowly beating the u/15s in the final.

Lydenburg convincingly beat Standerton 26-12 in the plate final. Uplands beat Highveld to take home the bowl, and the shield sits firmly with Penryn after they annihilated Horizon 48-0.
