Nelspruit Primary and Laerskool Laeveld work hard on rugby field

Nelspruit Primary and Laerskool Laeveld had a face-off during their first rugby league match last Thursday.

The teams battled it out on Nelspruit Primary’s rugby field. Looking at the previous results when Laeveld played against Primary, there seems to be an improvement in some teams.

Laeveld’s first team won 15-12. The Primary team improved even though they lost. They lost 57-5 the last time they played Laeveld. Laeveld’s second team won with 14-10 and Primary’s third team won 26-22.

Graig Tyler, from Nelpruit Primary, said they played their hearts out on the day and the school is really proud of each team.
He said the u/11 team really played a hard match, but played to their strengths and came out on top. They won with a bonus point in the end in the last play of the match.

“The first team match was a close encounter, with both teams giving their best. Due to the weather, the match got stopped with 10 minutes left to play and Laeveld won 12-15. It would have been an interesting last 10 minutes,” he said.

Johan Stander, from Laeveld, said looking at the results, the players played well.
He added that with all that said, the other school has improved compared with the last time they played. “It is not what we expected when we went to play,” he said.

Nelspruit Primary will play against Laerskool Nelspruit on Thursday on the latter’s fields, while Laerskool Laeveld will play against Laerskool Lydenburg at Laeveld on Thursday.
