Another record number of 594 riders competed in the third Mpumalanga event of the season, hosted at Curro Nelspruit on Saturday. This meant that in total 994 laps were completed, for  3 150 kilometres.

Going into the fourth event of the season, defending champions Lydenburg High School lead the log with 155 points, followed by Hoërskool Nelspruit with 127 points in second and Rob Ferreira with 46 points.

The next event will be held at Hoërskool Lydenburg, on August 17.

The league often refers to the 11 Spur MTB League regions, because of the split of Eastern Cape into East London and Port Elizabeth, which each hold three events and a combined provincial final. A total of 48 events are organised between May and September in South Africa with the Spur MTB League Inter-schools final in October.

In addition, neighbouring countries, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Zambia, have formed part of the league in order to achieve the same goals within their structures, and are invited each year to compete at the inter-schools  final at Bekker High School in Magaliesburg.

The league is currently focused on developing an integrated regional structure, while ensuring the development of local capacity.
