Athletes sweat it out for the community at Mopani i’langa race
The route took them through the suburbs around i'langa Mall, out onto the Kaapsehoop Road and back to the race village set up on the upper parking level at i'langa Mall.

What if leading an active lifestyle could mean more than just a healthier, happier future for you? What if participating in a series of lifestyle events could help your community’s most vulnerable or those in need of medical intervention? This is exactly where the Mopani Lifestyle Series comes in.
The Mopani MTB and Road Race, the Mopani i’langa Road Running Race as well as a Mopani Cycle Classic Road Race cater for all levels of athletes in search of a new challenge. The Mopani i’langa Race took place on Saturday, with Nedbank LVCC directing a very successful event while providing the 20 marshals needed to keep runners safe and on the right track. Racers gathered in the early hours of the morning to participate in the 5-, 10- and 21,1-kilometre races.
The route took them through the suburbs around i’langa Mall, out onto the Kaapsehoop Road and back to the race village set up on the upper parking level at i’langa Mall. Although the weather was chilly, it did not dampen the spirits of any of the 506 racers who entered.
Not only were the podium finishers awarded with prizes, there were several spot prizes handed out to anyone brave enough to answer a question promoted by the event’s MC. All proceeds from the race go towards the Mopani Community Fund, which will be used to support and give back to the community as a whole.
Now, running or cycling your best time or simply achieving personal goals can do so much more. Enter the next Mopani Lifestyle event. Details are available on Mopani Lifestyle Series Facebook.
