Smoking hot Vlammie takes five wickets in five deliveries
The Hoërskool Bergvlam u/15B boys cricket team squared off against the Lowveld High School u/15B team on Tuesday for a match in which Juwan Ferreira showed his pedigree as a bowler.
Lowveld High went in to bat and scored 85 for 10 in 16,5 overs. When the turn came for Hoërskool Bergvlam to bat, they scored 87 runs for three in 11.1 overs, winning the match with seven wickets in hand.
There were extraordinary performances from both teams, but Juwan’s bowling abilities came to the fore after he took five wickets in five consecutive deliveries. Juwan bowlied 1.5 overs and took five wickets for three runs, of which two were wides.
This achievement comes in the wake of Nikki Cronjé’s achievement ten years ago when the latter took five wickets off six balls.
Juwan accomplishment means that the school has set a new bowling record, though the previous seemed impossible to eclipse at the time.
The best batsman of the encounter was Rowan Nyamujara from Lowveld High School, who scored 36 runs off 28 balls.
