Cyclists bring the heat to annual 3 Towers

The race started off with a bang as Nico Bell and Wessel Botha were keen to dominate the race from the start.

The 11th edition of the 3 Towers Stage Race, supported by Malalane Toyota, was the hottest one to date.

Riders knew this would not be an easy ride with the high predicted temperatures. The 3 Towers stage race is a three-day mountain bike race. Each team consists of two riders. Friday morning saw 160 teams pull away to conquer the 210 kilometres of trails.

The race started off with a bang as Nico Bell and Wessel Botha were keen to dominate the race from the start. This tactic paid off, as the NAD team won all three stages.

Ben Melt Swanepoel and Jan Withaar were consistent the whole weekend to secure their second position. This was one of my favourite 3 Towers events, as the trails were running lightning-fast and all the riders had an awesome time.

“This is not an easy event to organise, as we make use of pretty much all the surrounding farms. We are so blessed to have such awesome neighbouring farmers, who are always willing to help out. We look forward to the 2020 race,” said organiser Mark Meyer.
