Mountain bikers do Lowveld proud at schools league
Rob Ferreira's Zandri Strydom managed to win her fourth championship in as many years. She had very good times in her category, Junior Women.

The Spur High Schools Mountain Bike League Interschools Final marked the end of an exciting season of racing from cyclists from across the country.

The finals were held this past weekend at Wagpos High School in North West, where the top invited school teams from each region went head to head.
School teams qualified based on team performance in a series of provincial qualification events. Each rider was allocated points based on their finishing position in each race with the points being assigned to the school that they are registered with.

On her first lap she clocked a time of 14:34, and kept improving. In her second lap she rode 13:51 and during her third lap attained a time of 13:45.
Another local cyclist that did extremely well is Bernice van Wyk from Hoërskool Lydenburg, who managed a coveted second position on day 2, in her category Youth 16 Women.

This is an incredible achievement when taken in account that more than 60 high schools were represented, and neighbouring countries such as Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia also made the journey across their borders to add extra flavour to an already exciting weekend.
