Temperatures in the high 30s did not deter the riders, who tackled six kilometres of a flat but twisty track at Merry Pebbles this weekend. The trail – not a technical one at all, but rather built for speed – gets faster and faster after each lap.

It was a relay race, with teams of three to four members entering the 10-hour-long endurance race.

In the end there can only be one winning team. This consisted of Mignon Black, Antonios Makris, Joshua Bezuidenhout and Alexander Bezuidenhout, who won the senior race, with Liesbet Delport, Pierette Labuschagne, Ashley Kellar and Suzanne Maree claiming the win for the women. The junior winners were Stefan Botma, Gerhard Botma and Inus du Preez.

Francois de Jager and Juanita Kammeyer won the respective men’s and women’s solo events.
