Lowveld titles are defended in bowling

Over the last two weeks 38 teams from around the Lowveld played in the mixed pairs competition in bowling.

Francois Hanekom and Annette Stassen (White River), the current South African mixed pairs champions, defended their Lowveld title in the recently completed Lowveld Mixed Pairs Competition.

The top two teams from each of the eight sections qualified for the cup competition, while the teams finishing third and fourth were part of the plate competition.

On the last day of the competition, hosted by Nelspruit Bowling Club, Hanekom and Stassen had a comfortable 27-13 win over Dean Paiva and Marlet Ireland (Bungalows) to retain the trophy they won last year.

The top three teams will represent the Lowveld in the Mpumalanga Mixed Pairs Competition that will be held in Mbombela over the last weekend in February.
