Penryn parents fight it out on the golf course

On Friday, the Penryn Parents Association (PPA) held a fundraising golf day at the Mbombela Golf Club that saw 84 players brave the heat and put in noteworthy performances on the course.

The format was a four-ball alliance scramble drive with two balls to count.

The team of Gareth Townsend, Miguel Geldenhuys, Jakkie Geldenhuys and Gary Angelos hit the spot to claim the first place, followed by Jaco Potgieter, Slang de Lange, Righard Meyer and Andy Britnell in second place.

Maurice Meyer, the PPA’s chairperson, said the event aimed to raise funds that will go towards improving the facilities at Penryn College, and added that plans are afoot to make it an annual event. He expressed his thanks to everyone involved in making the golf day a success.

“A big thank you to Darren Plumb at Mbombela Golf Club and all sponsors involved. We hope to grow this event and others considerably in the future,” he concluded.
