
On Wednesday January 29 Curro Nelspruit participated in the Medium Schools Agri Top 15 event near Belfast and returned as the winners for the second consecutive year.
Taku Taderera leaped to first place with a distance of 5,99 metres in the boys’ u/15 long jump. He received 877 ASA points. Naki Fakude claimed first place in both the 100 metres (11,19 seconds) and 200 metres (22,94 seconds) for boys’ u/15, earning 927 and 911 ASA points for the respective heats.
Julia van Aardt won the girls’ u/15 400-metre and 90-metre hurdles. Julia earned 793 ASA points for the 400 metres event and 687 ASA points for the 90 metres.
Fourteen-year-old Mirriam Moshood achieved third place, jumping a height of 1,50 metres in the high jump (903 ASA points) and a first place for 10,31 metres in the triple jump (723 ASA points).
Ané Janse van Rensburg received a second place in the girls’ u/16 javelin event (30,80 metres). Ané received 654 ASA points.
Asanda Shiba received third place for the 200 metres for boys u/14 in a time of 26,59 seconds, scoring 680 ASA points.
Khaya Sengwayo won the 100 metres for boys’ u/16 hurdles with a time of 14,94 seconds (858 ASA points) and placed second in the boys’ u/16 400-metre hurdles in a time of 1:02,59.

Gerald Skhosana won the boys’ u/19 200 metres (22,50 seconds) and boys’ u/19 400-metre hurdles (1:01.16). Gerald scored 748 and 612 ASA points for these events respectively.
Hailey-Jade Bainbridge won the girls’ u/15 1 500 metres (05:54.44) and placed second in the 800- metres girls u/15 in 2:41.31.
Gabriella Underwood received two second places, in the girls’ u/16 200 metres and 400 metres.
Kuhle Mnisi earned two first places in the 110-metre hurdles in a time of 14,93 seconds (748 ASA points) and 400-metre hurdles in a time of 1:01.16 (612 ASA points).
Megan Pretorius earned 561 ASA points and Jayden Andre earned 1393 ASA points for competing in their events on the day. Curro Nelspruit would like to thank all the athletes and their coaches for their sacrifices and dedication, the hosts and sponsors of the event and the teachers who accompanied the athletes to the Agri Top 15.
Curro looks forward to hosting the Inter Curro event that will be held at the Hoërskool Nelspruit sporting facilities on February 15.
Curro high schools from Secunda, Helderwyk, Bankenveld, Roodeplaat, Serengeti, Heuwelkruin and Hazeldean will be competing.
