It’s the power of love

The annual Power of Love Night Race once again brought runners together before Valentine's Day.

Run, run for the sake of love.

The race took place on Wednesday at Mbombela Stadium and the runners dressed appropriately for the occasion.

Young and old, running or walking, participated in the fun run. They ran a 4,9-kilometre route around the stadium, out to the road then back the same way.

Barefoot runner, Nontokozo Dlamini, competed on the day, but not for the competition, rather with her family and for the fun of it.

The front runners did not disappoint. The first man to come in was Thabelo Mashego, of Nelspruit Marathon Club, in a time of 18:01.

The first woman to cross the finish line was Chantal Middel-Bovèe in 21:20. A family winning streak was continued when her son, Julian Middel-Bovèe, was the first junior to finish, in 23:04.
