Mpumalanga and Limpopo go toe to toe on bowling green

As part of the preparation for the Bowls South Africa National Inter-Districts Bowls Championships, to be held from March 9 to 13, Mpumalanga competed against Limpopo to test their readiness.

The two districts assembled at LVCC earlier this month, pitting their best 48 players against one another. The competition format was fours, with both ladies’ and men’s teams involved. Four open teams and two veterans’ teams from each province competed in games over 15 ends. Each team played five games over the two days, in which a total of five points were awarded for each game.

In the ladies competition, Limpopo dominated with an 87-63 win over Mpumalanga. The Mpumalanga men reversed the ladies results, with an 80,5 to 69,5 win over their Limpopo counterparts. The two top-performing Mpumalanga teams were Owen Meredith’s men’s team and Marlet Ireland’s team in the ladies division.
