Chippa United dish out another defeat to TS Galaxy

The Rockets are now second last on the log table

A fourth-minute goal secured Chippa United a 1-0 victory over TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership game at Mbombela Stadium this afternoon.

Frédéric Nsabiyumva headed to ball into the net from a corner kick from Andile Mbenyane.

The Rockets had a nervous start to the match and Chippa United dominated early play.

The home team settled down to have the better of the play in the last 30 minutes of the first half. But they could not find the back of the net.

TS Galaxy had six shots at goal, but only one on target. Mxolisi Macuphu set up the shot for Wayde Lekay, but Chippa keeper Ayanda Mtshali made the save.

The Chilli Boys had three shots at goal in the first half, with the one on target making the difference.

The second half was a drab affair with neither team really threatening.

In the 80th minute Felix Badenhorst and Reneilwe Letsholonyane came off the bench and changed the dynamic of the Rockets game.

TS Galaxy had four scoring chances from the 81st to the 87th minute, but only one was on target and straight into Mtshali’s hands.

Chippa United defended well and took the single opportunity they had to score.

The Rockets need more precision and patience in their game plan.

They are now 15th (second last) on the log. Chippa United are 12th.

It was a sweet win for Chippa United’s new coach, Dan Malesela. He was dismissed as coach from TS Galaxy less than a month ago and a week later appointed coach of the Chilli Boys. Today he returned to Mbombela Stadium with his new team and won.

It was Owen Da Gama’s first match in charge of TS Galaxy.
