TS Galaxy move to 7th after another Mbombela Stadium victory
The Rockets are unbeaten in eight consecutive matches
Seven weeks ago TS Galaxy were in a bad place.
They were bottom of the DStv Premiership log. The Rockets had eight log points, with one win, five draws and five defeats. They had scored seven and conceded 14 goals.
Owen Da Gama was in charge of his fourth game for the club. His record was one draw and two defeats.
Then came a tricky away fixture versus Maritzburg United. Shaun Bartlett had come on board as assistant coach just four days earlier.
TS Galaxy won 3-0.
Last night The Rockets’ remarkable resurgence continued with a 3-1 win against Black Leopards at Mbombela Stadium. It was their third consecutive victory at their home stadium. The match was dominated by The Rockets. They played structured, positive football and deserved the win.
They moved to seventh on the log table.
An own goal by Tebogo Makobela put TS Galaxy 1-0 up in the 17th minute. Black Leopards’ defence was under pressure from Bathusi Aubaas and Wayde Lekay and resulted in Makobela’s error.
The confidence with which The Rockets played was evident when a sneaky back-heel from Lindukuhle Mbatha into Marks Muyani’s path gave TS Galaxy their second goal in 42 minutes.
The half-time score was 2-0.

Masilake Pholongo came on as a substitute and took just two minutes to give the home team a 3-0 lead in the 57th minute.
Themba Nduvi pulled one back for Black Leopards in the 69th minute.
The Rockets are undefeated in their last eight matches.
They are on 26 log points, with a goal difference of 3. Seven weeks ago, before the key win against Maritzburg United, their goal difference was -7.
TS Galaxy are just five points behind sixth-placed AmaZulu and fifth-placed Swallows.
The Rockets’ next DStv Premiership game is against Maritzburg United on March 20 at 15:30 at Mbombela Stadium.
