Mbombela Golf Club’s Morné Loock won the Mpumalanga Junior Golf Championship with a gross score of 155 after two rounds at Mbombela Golf Club on Sunday.

He edged out Behn Heyns of Middelburg Country Club and Derrick Howard of Witbank Golf Club by one stroke.

Morné played rounds of 78 and 77 to claim the provincial title. His 36 holes included two birdies, 20 pars, 13 bogeys and one double bogey.

Thabo Dube of Kambaku Golf Club was fourth with a 36-hole total of 157.

Thabo shot a 75 and held a three shot lead over Morné to be the leader after the first round.

An 82 on the second round dropped the Komatipoort golfer down the leaderboard.

Bea Breedt of Middelburg Country Club won the girls’ title with 163 gross.

Lucia Mhlabane of Malelane Golf Club was second on 174 and Dimpho Mhlabane, also of Malelane, was third on 181.
