Bass get on the hook for Get Net at Loskop Dam

The Lowveld Bass Trail travelled to Loskop Dam, the venue known for holding the current SA record largemouth bass of 7.192kg.

The anticipation was therefore high, with pre-spawn on our doorstep. Anglers were met by nearly perfect conditions after a week of stable, warmer weather, following two cold fronts that hit the region in the weeks leading up to the competition.

Unfortunately the water temperature was still cold, and the bass were not as active as the anglers were hoping. Nevertheless, some teams managed to figure out the patterns to get them to bite, and a couple of decent fish were caught.

The biggest fish of the day were caught by Team Ambassadors and weighed in at 4.15kg, and the second biggest fish was landed by the winning team of Get the Net.
