TS Galaxy face tough away match versus Malelodi Sundowns
The Rockets drew 2-2 against Golden Arrows last Saturday.
TS Galaxy face a tough away match against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld, Sunday at 17:00.
That The Rockets are in 14th place on the table and have yet to register a win in the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season, does not help their cause.
They played to a 2-2 draw against Golden Arrows on Saturday at their home ground, Mbombela Stadium. It was a high-paced match.
TS Galaxy caught up twice to share the spoils.
Golden Arrows’ goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana, playing his 50th match for the club, was in superb form and possibly saved his team from defeat.
The Rockets dominated early proceedings, but failed to create decent attacking opportunities. The first opportunity came in the 15th minute, but
Ebrahim Seedat’s shot was stopped by Mlungwana.
In the 28th minute, Saziso Magawana was fouled in the box and Michael Gumede nailed the penalty to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The Rockets hit back within two minutes when Arrows’ defence was breached, and Tshegofatso Nyama made a deft pass to Mxolisi Macuphu who scored the goal. Macuphu almost got a second a minute later, but Mlungwana made another excellent save.
The half-time score was 1-1.
Arrows had the better of the second half and regained the lead through a brilliant header from Velemseni Ndwandwe, from a corner kick from Siphelele Magubane.
Arrows led 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining.
The Rockets suddenly came alive and the tide turned; Arrows were kept busy on defence.
Mthobisi Mngomezulu scored the equaliser on 43 minutes, from an assist from Seedat, eight minutes after coming on.
Mlungwana again saved Golden Arrows after saving a shot from Seedat seconds before the final whistle blew.
The draw at home was certainly not the result TS Galaxy had wanted, but the fact that they scored two goals against a very defensive Golden Arrows is a positive.
