High school athletes got back on the track and field for a friendly interschools competition at Lowveld High last Thursday afternoon.
It was a low-key event to get children back into the swing of athletics and Lowveld High, Hoërskool Nelspruit and Hoërskool Rob Ferreira each entered a small team.
The track and field were excellently set up at the host school on a cool, overcast afternoon.
The excitement of competing in a Lowveld interschools was reflected by the smiles on the athletes’ faces. There was even an excited buzz from the officials and time keepers.
Strict Covid-19 regulations were adhered to and parents were not allowed to spectate. It was a positive start to a plan that will hopefully conclude with the spirited interschools competitions that have been part of the Lowveld as long as high schools have existed in the area.
