Paul van Wyk won the final leg and secured 100 points at Ngodwana Dam on Saturday. In doing so he claimed the 2021 Lowveld Small Craft Bass League.

He had finished second, sixth and ninth in the first three competitions.

The 100 points Van Wyk secured on Saturday pushed his total to 386, six more than second-placed JP Zaayman, who only managed fourth place at Ngodwana Dam, scoring 97 points.

Van Wyk’s total catch of 164.5cm on Saturday was enough for first place, with Herman Gouws second on 123cm.

Zaayman won the first competition at Lake Longmere but Van Wyk moved from second to first place on the points table after the second leg at Da Gama Dam.

He retained the number-one spot after the third leg at Witklip Dam.

He cast his skills and line into the water at a challenging Ngodwana to claim his first leg win of the season and the title of 2021 Lowveld Small Craft Bass League champion.

Third place for the inaugural season went to Frik Roos, whose finished eighth at Ngodwana.

The longest bass caught in the final leg was landed by Roos (37.5cm).

The Lowveld Small Craft League has concluded for 2021 and was a huge success.

The new league will commence early in 2022.
