The first RE: BOOT Fitness Challenge was a sweat and lactic acid infused explosion of competition between some of the physically strongest and fittest men and women in Mbombela.
The cool, overcast weather played along in the parking lot at the newly opened RE: BOOT Gym at West End on Saturday (November 20) morning.
Teams of five took on the challenges: 1 000m on rowing machines, tyre flips for 50m, 20 deadlifts of 60kg, farmer’s walk with two 25L water bottles and 500m on assault bikes.
Each team member had to complete all five challenges and the team that finished first went through to the next round.
The teams were Too Fit to Quit, Muscle Mecca, WOD Squad, RE: LOAD, Ugly Ducklings (Pumas Academy), Raptors (Pumas Academy), Up the BaR and Divergent Ops Elite.
Four teams advanced to the final. Too Fit to Quit were the champions of the day.
Ugly Ducklings finished second, Raptors third and WOD Squad third.
This was the first, but will not be the last, RE: BOOT Fitness Challenge. Plans are in motion to make it a monthly event in 2022.
“We were so impressed with the number of participants that accepted our challenge (our slogan is ‘Challenge Accepted’). They all said that they will definitely join our future events and that it was very challenging, but so much fun to participate as friends and family in an event like this,” said Bianca Ferreira of RE: BOOT.
