Rugby clubs looking forward to full season

Club's encourage new players to join them for practice

Ehlanzeni rugby clubs are looking forward to a full season with home and away matches against traditional rivals. Last season was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and in 2020, there was a countrywide ban on club rugby for the same reason.

But it is time for club players to dust off their boots and get to their clubs for practice.

Barberton Rugby Club’s players have returned to Coronation Park and train every Tuesday and Thursday from 18:30.

The AGM will be held on February 1 at 19:30 at the clubhouse. Those would like to join or know more about the club, may call Jaice Terblanche on 072 049 9210.

Impala (Komatipoort) Rugby Club will be hitting the tackle bags on February 1. Practice will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 18:00 to 19:30. For more information on the club, contact Nico Joubert on 072 489 1155.

The AGM is planned for Friday January 28 at the clubhouse. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.

The KaMhlushwa Black Cats have returned to the training field every Tuesday and Thursday. Any players who wish to join the club at Luvolwetfu Primary School can go to the club’s Facebook page @KBCRC for more information.

The Black Cats will host their AGM on Sunday January 30 at the school at 16:00.

Matsulu Rugby Club’s players will commence practice on Tuesday February 1, and every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday thereafter. The club uses the facilities of Sitfokotile Sport Ground.

Nelspruit Rugby Club has started practices. All new players are invited to join at 18:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kudu Park. The club’s AGM will be held on Tuesday February 22 at 18:00. The club will host Middelburg Rugby Club for a preseason friendly on February 28.

White River Rugby Club were undefeated last season when Covid-19 restrictions put an end to their campaign to be crowned Premier League champs. The club management, coaching staff and players are raring to continue their fine form in 2022. Training is every Tuesday and Thursday at 18:00.
